A Negotiable Bill of Lading allows the transfer of ownership of goods to a third party during transit. Once this has been done, the new consignee can then transfer the title to someone else, and so on. A Non-negotiable Bill of Lading is issued to a named specific consignee, receiver, or buyer and does not allow the transfer of ownership during transit.
