United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS)

A free trade agreement between the United States and South Korea entered into force in March 2012. The treaty’s provisions eliminate 95% of each country’s tariffs on goods within five years and create new protections for multinational financial services and other firms. The KORUS is notable for being South Korea’s largest trade agreement, second only to its trade deal with the European Union.
