For Peace of Mind – Secure Your Cargo With Cargo Insurance

Atlantic Express Project Cargo recommends insuring all cargo even the ones with existing damage.

Stranding Cover + Theft/ or Total Loss Insurance covers only total loss (damages will not be covered).

Full Cover Insurance – cargo must meet certain conditions.

Insuring conditions

Insurance Cover:  

Exclusions:

Loss or damage caused by:

  • Atmospheric and climatic conditions
  • Variation in temperature, odor, or humidity unless caused by an insured peril under ICC (C) clauses
  • Electrical, electronic, or mechanical derangement unless caused by an insured peril under ICC (C) clauses
  • Rust, oxidation, discoloration, scratching, bending, denting, marring, or chipping of paint unless caused by an insured peril under ICC (C) clauses

Excluding loss or damage occurring:

  • to accessories, special equipment contents that are not mounted stationary unless expressively stated
  • whilst the insured vehicle is being driven under own power or whilst being towed, except whilst being loaded or unloaded from the carrying conveyance  

Deductible:                 

USD 2,500 for break bulk, exposed and unpacked heavy items, or;  USD 250 for containerized – per shipment for each and every loss

Important Note:

There is no coverage for any land transport in (Coverage ends at the port/airport of entry): Africa and CIS, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Angola, Burma, Liberia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Zimbabwe.

Insurance cannot be provided to the following countries (please note any countries sanctioned by the OFAC and/or embargoed by the UN must be also included on this list) Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Cuba.

Claims procedure

If it is a claim below $2,000 then insurance will need the following:

  • Pictures of the damages-An estimate for the repair
  • A copy of the BL, invoice, and claim letter sent to the shipping line, port, or who damaged the vehicle.

If it is over $2,000 then we will need to send an inspector/surveyor (paid by the insurer) there at the destination who will require all the documents mentioned above and will issue a Survey Report with the findings of his investigation (cause of damage, extension of loss, etc.).
