WHAT TYPES OF CARGO ARE TRANSPORTED BY AIR?

Air freight is divided into two categories:

WHAT CAN’T BE TRANSPORTED WITH AIR FREIGHT?

There are quite a few things that can’t be transferred with air freight due to safety and security regulations. Here’s a breakdown of the main categories.

RESTRICTED ITEMS

Explosives
This includes fireworks, ammunition, firearms, detonating fuses, and anything that could pose a risk of explosion. ;
Flammable materials
Such as flammable liquids, solids, and gases;
Toxic and infectious substances
Among them are poisonous materials, medical waste, bacteria, viruses, and anything that can be harmful to human or animal health;
Corrosive materials
Such as acids, alkalis, and other substances that could damage and destroy other cargo or the aircraft;
Compressed gases
This includes oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, and aerosol cans, which could pressurize and rupture at high altitudes;
Magnetized materials
Strong magnets can interfere with aircraft navigation systems.

While air freight may not be suitable for certain hazardous items, safe transportation alternatives exist. This includes everyday items like fireworks, compressed gas cylinders, lighters, and aerosol cans, which retailers and consumers need for various purposes. Ground transportation, with its specific regulations and safety protocols, allows for the responsible movement of these materials.
