To successfully import a car from Canada to the USA, the following documents are required. But don’t worry — we will help you gather and submit them.
- Certificate of Title
Proof of ownership from the Canadian seller, showing the vehicle is legally yours
- Bill of Sale
A detailed document including the purchase price, date of sale, and both buyer and seller information
- EPA Form 3520-1
Required to demonstrate the vehicle meets US Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards (exempt for cars over 25 years old)
- DOT HS-7 Form
Confirms compliance with US Department of Transportation safety standards or eligibility for an exemption
- Customs Entry Summary (CBP Form 7501)
Filed with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to process the import and calculate duties
- Proof of VIN
The Vehicle Identification Number must be verified at the border, typically via the title or a physical inspection
- Recall Clearance Letter (if applicable)
For newer vehicles, a letter from the manufacturer confirming no outstanding recalls may be required
From start to finish, we take the complexity out of bringing a Canadian car to the US, saving you time and effort.
